Magical. Magical. Magical! Wow. I just LOVE shooting at Campovida. Julie and Matt chose this location because Matt's family has traveled up to their lake house in the area since Matt's childhood and when they saw the property they just knew how perfect it was for their wedding. I loved that Julie said about their sunset portrait session that they felt like they were discovering "secret gardens" as I led them through the property for the session. The property is so large that you could spend an entire day "discovering" it's many delights. For a destination wedding, it can't be beat. It will wow the guests. Julie and Matt put their hearts and souls into their wedding day with loads of individual and hand-crafted touches. The couple handmade their programs, name tags, menus and ribbon napkin rings! Grapevine Catering served an incredible meal, with a super sweet cupcake dessert by Kara's Cupcakes. Most important, however, was an incredibly special weekend spent with family and close friends. Again, what a magical place to do so. From the pictures, it looks like they had the time of their lives! Such a sweet couple!
Birgitt and Stephen's wedding focused on fine food and wine and creating what they called a “rustic, Californian aesthetic” through beautiful blooms. Elizabeth Anne Designs, too, took notice of this couple's gorgeous decor and published Birgitt and Stephen's wedding on their blog! Please check out Elizabeth Anne Designs' feature, and for even more photos from this beautiful wedding, check out my blog post.
Birgitt and Stephen’s wedding at the Headlands Center for the Arts was filled with delightful details, including an impromptu puppet performance mid-ceremony. The bride and groom focused on fine food and wine, catered by Katie Powers, and creating what they called a “rustic, Californian aesthetic” through beautiful blooms and décor by IXIA Flowers. What a beautiful celebration!
I've been back almost a week from my shoot at Rancho La Puerta and have missed it so. My friend Laurel and I have already heard from a few of our ranch friends, all just as nostalgic as we are. There's a saying at the ranch, which is "take the ranch home with you," and I've been trying! I'm still going to bed pretty early (they even have a lecture on sleep!) and getting up early to do stretches before starting my day, and every day has had some form of exercise but one! Because most of the tables in the dining room are community tables, we got to meet so many fascinating people. More than one described the ranch as "summer camp for adults" and I would agree. That's a great description. The guests are limited to 100 a week and many guests sign on immediately for the same week the next year so they can see their ranch pals.
Cooking school, organic garden tours, swimming pools for relaxing AND water classes, a world class spa, 3,000 mountainous acres for hiking, and healthy, organic, mostly vegetarian eating. I would say it's perfect. Travel and Leisure magazine apparently agrees because it named the ranch the "Best Destination Spa in the World." Brides, if you can go to the ranch with your besties for your bachelorette party or just with your mom and sisters for a little R&R before the wedding (I ran into one of my former brides and her mom and sister in a swimming class!), I would HIGHLY recommend it!
Enjoy the photos!
Two years ago, Tiffany and Adam wed at eco-friendly Cavallo Point, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. The couple and their adorable daughter, Capri, were a pleasure to photograph and seeing their photos appear on I Do Venues again is a real treat! Be sure to check out the feature, and while you're there, you can snag details on how to save 50 percent on weddings booked at Cavallo Point for May and June!
Wow! I didn't even see this when it was published! Here's another great feature on Style Me Pretty! Loved Kelly and Eddie's "green" wedding at Headlands Center for the Arts. Sadie of "One Big Fish" a certified green planning company helped coordinate and Julia of Bloomies in Oakland did a great job incorporating flowers the couple grew in their won backyard into her floral designs for the day.
