There are so many ways to accessorize your wedding day look and today, I wanted to share with you a few recent favorites! Andra looked beautiful in a cathedral length veil that perfectly complemented her custom-made gown, while Emily added a little modern flair to overall look with a spunky birdcage veil. And who says hair accessories are only for women? I love that Mark sported a swanky top hat on his wedding day!
Happy weekend!
Happy weekend, readers! I hope you plan to do something fun -- spend time with friends or family, enjoy a fine meal or take a trip to somewhere warm and wonderful.
Gawgeoous!
Seriously. I have such pretty brides!
Wedding reception dessert bars
More and more, couples are offering their guests more than just a cake at their wedding reception, and the choices they offer always look so yummy! Two couples whose weddings I recently photographed went this route. Julie and Rajan offered their guests a unique treat -- cake pops by Sweet Lauren Cakes. And Gina and Matt laid out a table full of cupcakes by Sift Cupcake & Dessert Bar for guests to enjoy (and as you can see, one little guest really loved them)! I hope these pictures can inspire your own dessert bars!
Martha and Phillippe's unique pizza rehearsal dinner
Martha and Phillippe had a very simple, very sweet rehearsal dinner. Hosted at a friend's house, the couple ordered pizza from several of their favorite local restaurants -- the kitchen was filled with so many yummy flavors and scents! It's amazing how many great pizza places are in Oakland and Berkeley! Here are a few photos from Martha and Phillipe's fun rehearsal dinner, and check back tomorrow for photos from their gorgeous wedding!
Brides with style
My clients have serious style. In fact, two pictured here -- Kelly and Jamie -- have been featured on wedding fashion blog Perfect Bound because of their gorgeous gowns. I hope their styles can inspire a few looks of your own!
Welcome back from Labor Day weekend!
Welcome back from your holiday weekend! Did you do anything fun for Labor Day? Whenever I think of summer fun, Melissa and John's colorful Healdsburg Country Gardens wedding comes to mind. There's just something about the couple's red and white checkered tablecloths and incredible food that makes me yearn for a summertime picnic!

Formal wedding portraits
I'm always up for a challenge -- and I knew I was up for a tough one when one of my recent bride's, Andra, asked me to take some very formal portraits at her wedding. Each bride and each wedding is different, and I pride myself on being a photographer who can read and match your style. I pulled from my classic training, and I was so happy to take these photographs of Andra. I thought I would share a few with you today for a little something different!
Pink and green bouquets -- a beautiful wedding color combination
These vibrant bouquets are sure to brighten your Thursday! I just love the contrast of the fuchsia roses against the cool green orchids. Do you have a favorite wedding color combination?
An act of service
Acts of service in weddings are wonderful. A hand-written thank you note or a donation to charity in lieu of favors are heartfelt gestures that can mean so much to guests. One of my favorite wedding-related acts of service happened at Nhi and Daniel's Whidbey Island wedding -- the couple handmade pizza for their guests to enjoy. If you missed their intimate celebration, you can see it in this blog post. For now, I'll leave you with a few pizza pictures that are sure to make your mouths water!

Creative centerpiece ideas
My clients and their talented florists and event designers have come up with some pretty creative centerpieces and table toppers. Today, I wanted to share a few favorites with you. Kelly and Eddie, along with Bloomies, designed tablescapes of mismatched vases and deep, full flowers; Didi and Tim dotted their tables with wine bottles covered in a custom label; Andra and Christopher kept things simple with airy, delicate baby's breath; and Trish and Bronson, with the help of Kate Stanley Design and Covenant Coordinating, used trimmed trees and bright blooms to decorate their tables.
There's so much to love about each of these different looks! Do you have a favorite?
Wedding reception lounge areas
Lounge areas at wedding receptions have become increasingly popular, and I can see why! They are a great way to add instant interest to your wedding decor, and they create a special, intimate space for guests to socialize. I've seen so many nice lounge areas, but really loved Jennifer and Shawn's. Here are a few photos of their lounge area, and for more photos from their wedding, visit this blog post!
Bouquet inspiration
I've seen so many beautiful bouquets through the years, so I thought I would share a few of my favorites with you. Maybe one will inspire your own bouquet!
A favorite photo
This photo, from Carli and Craig's destination wedding in Mexico, is one of my absolute favorites. As we ended a long day of shooting on the beach, Carli shed her heavy wedding gown for a bikini and a local man offered to carry it back to our boat for her. It's an image that makes me smile -- at the generosity of strangers, and at that poor man buried beneath that dress!
TGIF!
Here's a favorite photo from Kelly and Eddie's wedding, which was recently published on I Do Venues. I hope it brightens your Friday and makes you laugh. Oh, and TGIF!
Sweet ceremony kisses
Now this is a kiss! If you're a sucker for the sweetness of ceremony kisses, you'll love this photo I snapped of Jason and Leah's ceremony kiss. There is so much love, passion and excitement in this moment. For more great images from Leah and Jason's wedding at Casa Real, check out this blog post.
A creative wedding cake
There are so many ways to make a wedding unique, but how is this for some edible inspiration: Sarah and Joe met at a Seattle bus stop and to commemorate the occasion, their bridal part ordered a replica of that same bus in the shape of a groom's cake! Little details like this make all the difference. Here's the cake, and for more photos from Sarah and Joe's wedding, check out this blog post.
Wedding toasts
Wedding toasts can be heartwarming and hilarious -- and sometimes, hard to write. However, this article from The Knot gives some great advice on how to craft a creative toast.
The toasts at Alison and Andrew's wedding were really wonderful, and kept guests laughing. You can check out more photos from their beautiful Beaulieu Gardens wedding here.
